Wow, more green motoring news from this year’s SEMA show (see Smart Fortwo Makes Appearance at SEMA 2008); this time the news is from Volkswagen. The Volkswagen Eco Performance Concept was created in collaboration with APR, LLC, Recaro, H&R Suspension and Brembo. This concept car is decked out in true SEMA style yet it can obtain an average of 33 mpg on the highway and 27 in the city in Eco mode while pushing out 222 horsepower and 236 lbs-ft of torque.

“The Performance CC sits on custom designed 10-spoke, 20-inch wheels and high performance 245/30 R20 Yokahama tires with an H&R street coil over sport suspension kit. With all this power to handle, Volkswagen has upgraded the brakes to provide extra power to stop. The Performance CC features 14-inch Brembo brakes with 4-piston Aluminum Alloy Brake Calipers and 355×32mm 2-Piece Floating Cross Drilled Discs with Billet Aluminum Hats.“ (Source: Volkswagen Online Newsroom)

The highway fuel efficiency rating is in line with the highway mpg seen on the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid. However, the Volkswagen is not a hybrid and you get about 80 more horsepower and nearly 100 more lbs-ft of torque. Amazing.
