Toyota’s Commitment to Environment Goes Beyond the Prius

When thinking of green motoring topics and Toyota Motors, the first thing that comes to most people’s minds is the Toyota Prius. The Prius has truly changed the hybrid car landscape and through it, Toyota has pretty much led other car manufacturers to the reality that hybrid cars are a big part of the automotive future. However, Toyota’s environmental commitment goes beyond their cars.
The Toyota International Teacher Program is celebrating its 10th year of helping secondary teachers understand global environmental and sustainability issues. In 2008, teachers will be taking an environmental study tour of the Galapagos Islands.
“Today, we recognize how mutually dependent we all are on the Earth’s resources. The Toyota International Teacher Program seeks to provide teachers the tools they need to prepare and educate students as stewards of our global community,” said Jim Lentz, president, Toyota Motor Sales (TMS). When a company steps beyond their core market and looks at environmental issues on a larger scale, it speaks loudly about that company’s commitment to the eco-friendly movement. Toyota is an industry leader when it comes to hybrid vehicles but its ability to focus on the big picture deserves equal recognition. Kudos!
