Posted on: September 21st, 2008 by Melissa

The Honda FCX Clarity is currently on the roads of California as part of a limited-availability lease program. The Clarity was introduced to the world at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show as a concept vehicle; this once concept car is now available to California residents who meet Honda’s criteria for ownership. In a June 2008 press release, Honda laid out these requirements, “The initial criteria for fuel cell vehicle ownership, including proximity to hydrogen refueling stations, driving patterns and vehicle needs, all played a part in Honda’s customer selection process.â€
The 2008 Honda FCX Clarity meets the ZEV CARB Emissions Rating standards; the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle produces zero emissions. The vehicle runs on compressed hydrogen gas and has a miles per gallon equivalency rating of 79/68/74 (city/highway/combined) and a driving range of 280 miles. Hollywood actress Jamie Lee Curtis is one of several high-profile FCX Clarity owners.
