Presenting the 2011 Chevrolet Volt by GM

Last week, someone accidentally published photos of the Chevy Volt on the GM Media site. As is with any accident on the internet, someone was there to capitalize on this oops and the world was given a sneak peek at what the Chevy Volt really looks like. Today, GM has released specifications of the 2011 Chevy Volt as well as more information about the car that will lead “General Motors into its second century†(Source: GM Media Online.)
Now, here is the data that Chevy Volt enthusiasts around the world have been waiting for:
2011 Chevy Volt Specifications
Vehicle Type: 5-door, front-wheel-drive sedan
Category: Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (E-REV)
Top Speed: 100 mph
EV Range, city: 40 miles
Of course, there is more to the Volt than these specs but this was just a sampling of what will be incorporated into the 2011 Chevrolet Volt. The Volt can be charged using a 120v or 240v outlet; an eight-hour full charge time is expected at 120v and less than three hours if charged at 240v. The cost of a full charge is estimated to be 80 cents per day for one full charge. For comparison, a single charge per day “will consume less electric energy annually than the average home’s refrigerator and freezer units.â€
