Miley Cyrus Planning on a Prius
Miley Cyrus, also known as Hannah Montana, is one of the most popular celebrities among children aged 7-12. However, Ms. Cyrus is coming up on driving age and as is typical among other teens her age, she is looking forward to buying her first car. Evidently her first choice was a Mercedes-Benz G-series but her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, suggested that perhaps the G-series would be too polluting.

“I’ve begged my dad for the Mercedes G-wagon, but he was like, ‘Miley, isn’t there enough pollution in the air?’ We’re Cherokee, that’s our background. And he’s like, ‘As a Cherokee, I really don’t think you want to do this.’ And I’m like, ‘Dad, I’m not that Cherokee.’ He wants me to take care of the environment and look at hybrid cars. I’m stoked, that’s awesome, especially with the price of gas. I want to spray paint it. I want to rock out my car. I want to get my car pimped out.â€
Hmm, so Miley Cyrus whose face can be found emblazoned across the t-shirts and backpacks of pre-teen girls across the United States is concerned about gas prices? I chuckled as I read that part. Cyrus will be joining the ranks of several other celebrity Prius owners.
Celebrity Prius Owners
The Toyota Prius seems to be the go-to-car of eco-conscious Hollywood celebrities. At one recent Hollywood fundraiser, notable director Rob Reiner, Larry David of Seinfeld fame and agent Arie Emanuel all sported their Prius’.
HybridCars.com released a list of Celebrity Hybrid Drivers in 2006. I’m sure that this list has grown substantially in the past two years. Some notables on that list are Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson, Leonadro DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.
FCX Clarity
Not a Prius owner but another celebrity to mention in this article is Jamie Lee Curtis. On July 31, 2008, Curtis took ownership of a brand new Honda FCX Clarity. Curtis is the proud owner of the second Clarity to hit the streets in California and the event was worthy of a press release from Honda.
“I really wasn’t expecting it to be so luxurious,” said Curtis. “It’s luxurious, luxurious, luxurious! I love the interior layout, design and access to controls. It is user-friendly and very modern.”

It is nice to see some of the younger celebrities looking at hybrid options when choosing a new vehicle.
Wow! I’m surprised Billy Ray Cyrus is actually concerned about the environment. That’s different from most hollywood stars.

It certainly ups the cool quotient of a vehicle when the stars decide to get one. Their owning the vehicles is almost like an endorsement. Apparently pure electrics are also very hot among the Hollywood ‘it’ list.
