Miley Cyrus May Want the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid

Recently, Miley Cyrus swapped out the use of her mom’s Porsche Cayenne for a Toyota Prius of her own. Porsche is road testing the Cayenne S Hybrid and it is expected to arrive in US dealerships in 2010. Miley Cyrus may want to think about swapping back to a Porsche Cayenne, but this time she should check out the hybrid.

The numbers coming in from a recent report on Edmunds.com are both good and bad news, in my opinion. The good news is that the Cayenne Hybrid can drive at 86mph on its electric motor. Other hybrids on the market cannot achieve anywhere near this speed in electric-only mode. However, unless one is on the Autobahn, I do not see a person cruising around at 86 mph on a regular basis.

Now the uglier side of that, the average fuel economy is only 26 miles per gallon and that is based on European standards. Edmunds reports that the vehicle will end up with a 24 mpg average fuel efficiency certification here in the United States. Honestly, 24 mpg is not that great but it is comparable to other hybrid SUVs.

Sure, it is better than the non-hybrid but with the non-hybrid Cayenne S starting at $60,000, I can only guess that the hybrid will be in the $70k + range. If you are in a position to drop down $70k+ for a hybrid, why not add a bit more and spring for an all-electric Tesla.
