Mark Miller Toyota Expecting Gold LEED Certification

Earlier this month, I reported on Tesla Motors plans for a new headquarters as well as factory to create its upcoming four-door electric sedan. Tesla Motors is planning its new building from the ground up keeping the environment in mind in hopes of receiving Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). Mark Miller Toyota, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, is a few steps ahead of Tesla Motors; the dealership is expecting to receive their Gold LEED Certification in the next few weeks.
“The majority of Mark Miller Toyota’s facility is made up of construction elements that are designed to conserve energy and water. The dealership was built to maximize local and recycled materials. Most of the building waste was recycled.†(Source: PRNewswire)
Some of the highlights listed in the press release include sun-tracking skylights, a cool-roof system, low water usage landscaping, high-speed hand dryers in the restrooms and the generous use of recycled materials throughout the dealership. Mark Miller Toyota will be celebrating its grand opening tonight.
