In September 2008, Chrysler released details on its newest GEM model, the Peapod Neighborhood Electric Vehicle and declared that GEM will now stand for GreenEcoMobility. Although the Peapod is not currently available (slated for production release in 2009), Rushton Roddey and Brian Jambora knew that the GEM cars were perfect for their business – Jump Charlotte.

Jump Charlotte is a shuttle service that operates in Uptown Charlotte. Unlike other shuttle services, Jump Charlotte is not only free but also environmentally friendly. The entire fleet consists of GEM e4 and e6 models.

“To achieve our goal of providing 100% eco-friendly shuttles, we knew the GEM cars were the way to go as soon as we saw them,” says Roddey. “All our passengers love the GEM cars, because they don’t use any gas at all and they love the way they drive.
