Honda Fit Best in Class per US News

US News & World Report has released the winners of The Best Car for the Money awards and the 2009 Honda Fit came out on top as the best subcompact car for the money. There were no hybrids listed and the other 13 cars on the list are not known for fuel efficiency or reduced emissions. The Honda Fit is the greenest car on the list.
“The auto industry has clearly been among the hardest hit by the economic downturn, but let’s not forget that car buyers are also struggling to make sense of a tumultuous market,” said Chad Smolinski, Vice President of Rankings & Reviews for U.S. News. “The Best Cars for the Money list recognizes vehicles that can be the most rewarding for car shoppers - namely those that win the most praise and offer the most compelling overall value.” (Source: PR Newswire)
As you can see, the environmental impact of the vehicle is not considered. It is apparent that the majority of consumers in the United States are not forward thinking when it comes to high fuel-efficient and alternative fuel vehicles. This is evidenced not only in the fact that only one vehicle on the US News list has respectable fuel economy but also by the decrease in sales of the #1 hybrid, the Toyota Prius.
