Chicago Gets Solar Plug-in Station

Who said that a plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle needs to be recharged by an electrical recharging station? Carbon Day Automotive has just installed the first Solar Plug-in Station ™ in Chicago. The new solar powered charging station will be tested on a regular basis by the city’s Department of Fleet Management, which has a fleet of electric vehicles.

“Carbon Day Automotive envisions thousands of charging stations in key locations throughout Chicago and tens of thousands nationally by the year 2011. The construction of this infrastructure is the key to declaring America’s independence from oil. And, the project is “shovel ready” allowing for federal funds and tax credits to municipalities.” (Source: PR Newswire)

More information on the product can be obtained from the Carbon Day website.
