2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid was one of five finalists for the Green Car Journal’s 2009 Green Car of the Year Award. Although the Fusion did not take top honors (the Volkswagen Jetta TDI was ultimately named as the winner), the media attention around the contest help raise awareness about the newest vehicle to join the Ford hybrid lineup.
Ford has made many changes in the design of the next-generation hybrid that is featured in the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid (and its sister, the Mercury Milan Hybrid.) The new system will allow the vehicles to have a top speed of 47 mpg while in electric-only mode which is faster than its competitors are. The vehicle is also expected to have approximately a 700-mile driving range on one tank of gas.
“With the new Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan hybrids, we are now able to offer even better range of travel on battery power at a greater speed, thanks to a more efficient, seamless transition between the battery-powered motor and gasoline-driven engine,†he said. “These new hybrids will exceed expectations on all fronts – fuel efficiency, comfort, convenience and drivability.†(Source: Ford Media)
