2009 Toyota Venza Pricing Announced

Toyota Motor Sales announced the pricing models for the all-new 2009 Toyota Venza. The Toyota Venza is not a hybrid model but Toyota testing shows that the 2.7-liter 4-cylinder model achieves 29mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city on the FWD version. If you consider the fact that the Venza is a crossover, this is actually a respectable level of fuel efficiency.
“The Venza is targeted at an emerging section of the market that prioritizes sleek styling, excellent handling and road manners, combined with a surprising amount of utility. Specifically, Venza offers bold and expressive styling; on-road performance; luxurious and refined interior; and SUV-like flexibility such as all-wheel drive (AWD), foldable rear seats, large cargo area, higher driver sightline, and up to 3,500 lbs. towing.†(Source: Toyota)
2009 Toyota Venza Pricing
Although the Venza is not a hybrid, the preliminary fuel-efficiency ratings for the four-cylinder models are impressive for a crossover. If you are in the market for a crossover vehicle, the Toyota Venza should be available by the end of this year.

“21 mpg in the city… If you consider the fact that the Venza is a crossover, this is actually a respectable level of fuel efficiency.”
No it is not. It is not even close. The AWD version is even worse. I am disappointed that a “green” car blog would ever make such a claim.
CelticSolar - Thank you for taking the time to post and although I respect your opinion, I still stand by my statement. When you compare this crossover to a hybrid SUV like the Cadillac Escalade, this is (in my opinion) a respectable rating.
Yes this is a green car blog but not everyone is going to be won over to the hybrid or 100% alternative fuel market right away. Slow and steady wins the race and if someone swaps from their 13 mpg SUV to this FWD Venza then that is a step in the right direction.
Again, this is my opinion and is simply the way I look at things.
Warmly,
Melissa
